    Piston heads have changed that article Michael and now state correctly that it’s only the EA288 engine which is OK. No-one on this thread has ever said otherwise. It’s the 189 engines which will be recalled, even in Europe. The article is still misleading (read the comments), but less so.

    Volkswagen has already started a voluntary recall program for cars in this country, but the DfT has made clear that “this is VW’s position and VW’s problem.”

    So VW is poisoning the UK population and it’s not the DfT’s problem. The whole scandal started when measured urban pollution levels in terms of NOx were as bad as ever despite half the diesel cars in circulation having been replaced since the norms were set so low NOx pollution levels should have dropped dramatically.
