I got a velomann bike stand for Christmas

do you clamp the bike on the seatpost only?

depends on the bike, I usually go for the top tube instead. If you’ve got the cables mounted along the top tube this wont work so well, and you’ve also got to be careful not to crush the tube by mistake! (did once, wont do again!)

I always (almost) clamp on the seat tube as you can damage the top tube if your being heavy handed – better to damage the seatpost (which is unlikely).

    I always use the seatpost

Seatpost only every time, if that’s not possible, then a BB/fork type workstand.

    Seatpost for me as well.

I always wrap a microfibre cloth around the seatpost before clamping it in just to reduce the chances of scratching it etc,

I’d never clamp around the frame myself as I’d be far too worried that I’d damage it.

A seatpost is a lot cheaper to replace than a frame.

ISP? Get the clamp adaptor for it then.

Always seatpost as frame has butting to make it light – not designed for being clamped
