  • Upbeat songs from Scottish artists – suggestions?
  • mtbvision
    Free Member

I need suggestions for songs/ tracks from Scottish artisits suitable for a DH MTB film. I've pretty much got the indie/ rock side of things covered, just needing suggestions from other genres, so that there is a bit of diversity in the music. Any serious suggestions greatly appreciated. It has to be from Scottish artists.

    Cheers!

Real Gone Kid gets my vote – still makes me smile when I hear it 🙂

EDIT – sorry, just read it's for a DH film so that'd have to be crap thrash metal then 😉

Talking of what was acceptable in the 80s…If you want some electronic/dance music, Calvin Harris is from Dumfries, The Shamen were from Aberdeen and Boards of Canada are from Balerno. BoC even did a track called Happy Cycling, not sure how well it would work with some gnarly downhill action, though!

You could try some of the Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham stuff. Traditional Scottish folk but one or two tracks might do the job.

I'll see if Mrs M can pick something out

Or Lucky Man by Thunder? [Working on a faint recollection that Thunder were at least in part a Scottish band]

What is it then?, it aint indie, You could say electro-pop if you wanted to be pedantic?

Not my cup of tea either before you start saying "I would call it shite"

Organic 355 – Thanks for the wiki link!

Gringo – Biffy are in there already.

Sobriety – thinking about Idlewild, but can't get a track that works with the footage – not exhausted all their songs yet.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Keep them coming.

Yeah Mylo – Destroy Rock and Roll album – don't know why I didn't think of that, having been to see him several times! Paris 400 would be spot on I reckon.

Ooops by Hudson Mohawke? or something from the Butter album.

Alex Smoke is my favouritest Scottish musician – very electro. Big back catalogue to find something suitable.

Then there's Rustie and Mike Slott – look here http://www.thisisluckyme.com
