Just reading that jazz sax player Dexter Gordon became friendly with the family of Lars Ulrich when he was in Denmark, and is Lars’ godfather.

I read somewhere that Charles Wright was Dr Dre’s uncle, but that seems tragically untrue (NWA covered/extensively sampled his track Express Yourself). But I do like that a royalties conflict was resolved entirely by Charles Wright calling up Ice Cube in person and telling him off.

It was actually Easy-E (Eric Wright). It think people wondered aloud whether Charles and Eric were related (some suggested Charles was either Easy-E’s dad or uncle) mainly as part of a conversation about the various members of NWA being a bit more middle class than they let on – and it somehow became ‘fact’ – such as in Easy-E’s obituary in the Independent here
