Am I right in saying that all that differentiates a 409 Revelation from a 426 is the external floodgate adjuster and that this is the blow off threshold for the lockout, a feature that I am not too fussed with.

And are all revelations U-turn (ie. variable travel) or are some fixed at 140mm (a feature I am more fussed with)

Oh and do I have to have the handlebar remote thingy.

yes, 409 ->426 = external whatsit
Some are fixed travel, although travel can be changed by dismantling and changing spacers
