I am thinking of buying set of 6700 wheels
To run tubeless for cross ! Anyone used these
For cross or got any opinions ?

All comments apart from ones taking the piss

If it’s any help I used 6600 wheels for racing cross and they couldn’t take it.
The rim was the worst thing, being very prone to damage.
Spokes didn’t fare any better, one went the whole wheel went out.

Lovely on the road though

I have 6600’s and they dont seem strong enough. Very flexy as well when giving it beans out of the saddle.

Few others on here saying tubeless doenst work well for cross due to low pressures.

Currently running standard wheels/tubes around 55psi prone
To pinch flats I guess more pressure would help at cost to traction
I’m only 65kgs and light on most gear the 6700 are tubeless specific
So was hoping these may be option ? Really don’t fancy tubular route
Which seems popular but seems a major faff and pricey to repair

I’m hearing that, reading comments that say you need high pressure to keep them from burping.

I used the Ultegra 6700 wheels last year for racing the cross season, set up tubeless at 30/35psi (F/R) using the carbon beaded Hutchinson Bulldog ust tyres. The bead seats so tight that its actually very hard to remove! No flats or burps the whole cross season, I’m 81Kg

pros: nice and light weight, 100% reliable running low pressure
cons: a little flexi on hard descents but nothing to worry about, rim id is narrow as road wheel so forms quite a rounded tyre profile

30-35 psi is high for cross!!!
Seriously if you are planning to race its tubulars all the way
Rhinos in muddy conditions will be down to less than 20 psi for grip

wow, I think i need to sort my tyre pressure out for cross… have been running 70-80 psi!!
