    Hi all,

Me and a few mates are planning a lads long weekend MTB get away, and are after some advice.

We are all very competant XC riders that want to hit more trail based stuff and light DH stuff.

Due to finances it needs to be in the UK and we are based in Brighton but happy to drive anywhere.

Any ideas of some good places and hotels/places to stay? We were thinking cwmcarn but open to advice.

    Thanks in advance

South Wales is good. A lot of dh tracks around that area,Abercarn, Mountain Ash, Rheola, Gethin, but unless its Cwmcarn you’d be pushing up.

Otherwise, a bit Northerer, I had a great long weekend doing some xc in the Tanat valley, and then doing an uplift day at Revolution bikepark.

North again, but a weekend doing a few trails at Coed Y Brenin perhaps for a couple of days and then a third day doing an uplift at Antur Stiniog which has trails for all levels. That would be a good choice too…

    Keswick.
2 actual mountains (helvellyn & skiddaw) within 30 minutes drive you can cycle up n down if you’re man enough, several highly rated XC routes all natural rocks and tracks search: borrowdale bash & Ullswater singletrack for eg, whinlatter forest with 2 fairly decent XC/DH constructed trails. Keswick is ace for pubs and resturants, lots of B&B and campsites nearby.
All over the lakes is mint for biking.

GT and Inners … and you’re only 1.5-2 hrs from Mabie/Dalbeatiie. Those Scottish trails are better and more varied than Afan and surrounding area IMO.
