the mid portion of my front tyres are fine but the very outside edges (the outer couple of inches only) are very worn.

    1) any ideas why this might be the case?

    2) do i need to change the tyres?

    Underinflation.

If its on your car then probably due to under inflation, could be somethings bent or needs adjusting (have you clipped a kerb, hit a pot hole, let the wife drive?…)

As above, get the tracking checked. Have you had anything done to the suspension or steering recently?

If the inside is worn also, put some wind in your tyres.

Otherwise it’s toe / tracking / alignment related, get thee to Kwik Fit.

What the cougar said. Your toe in is out of wack unless both sides are worn in which case put some air in (and get new tyres).

Although the stock STW response is to rubbish Kwickfit and tell you that only a 26axis laser alignment machine at a race track is suitable for your Panzerwaggon.

Sorry, I read it as both edges of each tyre, which is usually underinflation. If it’s just one edge then as above.

There’s plenty of jobs I wouldn’t trust them with, but my local KF has always been bob-on with their bread & butter jobs like tyres and tracking.

Dunno, I would say a tyre fitters in Syria would be more dangerous
