My other half wants to do some towpath riding on her road bike and has asked me to source some suitable tyres. Current set are Conti 700x23c (no tread whatsoever!). Looking to replace these with some Schwalbe CX Comp 700x35c (Halfords £11.49 each). Will these be compatible with road rims? I’m a MTB Luddite and no very little about 700c wheels! Many thanks…

Compatible with the rim? Yes (I’ve run 35c Maxxis Raze on Open Pro rims)
Able to be fitted into the frame and forks? Not likely. You’ll be able to fit a 25mm or maybe even a 28mm tyre though.

Thanks for the confirmation. The bike is a female specific Bianchi road bike. So I suppose clearance will be an issue. Better play safe with some 25mm. Any recommendations?

If it’ll take a Schwalbe Marathon then that will add a decent amount of puncture prevention (dunno about your local towpaths but broken glass is often an issue). They are quite bulky and heavy though.

Many thanks Scot, I’ll take a look.
