Went up to Ilkley today for a spin round on a tandem.

What a laugh. If you get the chance to have a go on one you should jump at the chance. 😀

Thanks to JD Cycles a great shop that offers some great advice.

For some reason I’m getting no scale there so the bike looks like a parrot bike.

i bought one a couple of years ago.

Yes mate we did. Snot finished yet though, still waiting for brakes and need to get some better bars, stem and front seatpost on it.

    Captain.

Just get your shit together and buy one. They’re so much fun.

Puff. Get it out now. (so to speak)

    matt.

It would take one hell of a fire to dry those logs out enough to burn.

We were looking at a Ventana while we were in the shop.

Very nice but I think we need to learn how to ride this one a bit better before we spend that kind of cash.

You need to learn to ride. Period 🙂

Not sure that’s Niche enough for you to ride under the banner “Kngihts of Niche” Please distance yourself from out Autonomous Collective. Thanks

I resigned from The Nights Of Niche to start my own splinter group.

    The Niche Knights On Tandems.

Me and The King Of Sweden are going to ride tandems without stokers.

You’re the second person that’s given me a link to Vicious Cyles tandem pics.

After our initial test ride I’d not want to try and steer the **** thing off road without a suspension fork.

Once we get to grips with how to ride it the gears are coming off.

ssstu, you NEED sus forks to ride offroad.
it is almost impossible to unweigh the front end to lift over trail obsticals.
even kerbs are hard to do with a light 12 yr old on the back.

It’s got a dirt jump1 fork with bolt through axle on.
The test bike we had a go on had a dirt jump something on with a qr axle. Lets just say the steering was “vague”.

Are you sure it was the steering that was vague and not the pilot?

    Maybe a bit of both……..

BTW you’re next in line to get a go on it so we can all point a laugh. 😆

Or have a go on either seat.
We MIGHT even ride it on the weekends bothy trip.

Still waiting for the brakes for it though…….

Well looks like we broke you then ! Welcome to the fold :D.Jen redckons you have stolen her niche so is going back to gears and small wheels just to spite you both. I were right about that fork then.

    I’d love a proper off-road tandem, but I’d need a proper off-road stoker. My wife doesn’t like the bumps…

    😕

Tandems are relationship magnifiers, so just be sure that you get on well to start with. 🙂
And silly things like which foot forward you ride are far more important to getting on than raw power or mad skills. One of the worst tandem stokers I had was Jason McRoy, as we just rode very differently – it’s still one of the funniest rides I’ve ever done though. By contrast, the best stoker ever was Jamie Hibbard – on our first ride out, we were climbing out of the saddle together. You can never tell…
