Thinking about getting a second-hand turbo trainer to use during the winter. I have never used one before so have no idea what to look for and even if they are worthwhile. So any tips?

Very good if used properly …get a fluid turbo if you can much quieter

definitely good for fitness if you have the commitment. However, they also happen to be the most mind-numbingly dull thing I think I’ve ever done (even with the telly on)

Rollers will keep you more focused.

    Hideous, nasty, torture devices.

I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than ride on a turbo ever again.

My idea would be buy some good foul weather kit, some mudguards and get out and HTFU.

I use trainerroad and sufferfest, plus this years tdf and vaulta DVDs.

    Twice a week is good.
