    Glad this popped up, would explain why my brakes feel good for about the first 5 mints of a ride and why I then spend the rest of the ride adjusting the barrel to keep the brake working.

    Because bike shop mechanics aren’t as good as they say they are?
    Many are pushed for time.
    Don’t have varied enough experience.
    Refuse to use manuals/instructions.
    Lack any sort of mechanical sense or aptitude.

    The grooved tongue is the biggest give away. And the serrations.

    My new bike came with the same incorrect setup, thanks to this thread I checked and corrected.
