Received mine today, and it looks great, way smaller than I was expecting. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try it out on the bike, can't wait!!
had the light on in the garage this eve, feggin hell its bright.
very pleased, it looks way brighter than the xpe's i had in it before.
should get its 1st outing on woodbury common thurs night.
Took mine to the peaks sat night on low it was just brighter than my mates lumi led3 then put it on high for some flat out downhills.
Just received mine today, and just been comparing against a Lupine Betty in the field at the bottom of the garden.
They throw out quite a different light (colour and spread)

Cheers Trout, very excited about the ride home tomorrow
Been doing a back garden comparison to a Hope Vision 4.
The Trout main spread shape is half moon like, shaped downwards so as to illuminate the near field in front of you. It seems quite focused with the fill dropping off sharply past 45degrees each side of the straight ahead line. Nearfield is very well lit indeed, being very bright.
In this spread shape the Trout is similar to the Hope. The Hope's colour is quite a bit warmer, the Trout is alot whiter, and of course brighter, especially where it counts - about 3-14' in front.
it doenst tell you how much on his page though
or how long battery last
Depends what capacity (Ah) battery pack you have, or buy. Think it draws 1A on full so with the 2.6Ah battery pack I've got it will, in theory, run for 2.6 hours.
Trout, I've got to say that the light is fantastic, can't wait for my next night ride. Car drivers round London won't know what's coming this winter!

Sorry John but i'm not able to give a decent review until have rode with both lights, I only received it this afternoon and not riding till tom.
My intial thoughts are though
The Betty is brighter in the centre area where the Trout has more light to the sides. The Trout light is a more bluey white light whereas the Betty is more natual. When shining both lights at some trees in the distance i could pick out the colours more with the Betty.
When using both lights on full power together you can notice the centre of the Lupine and the side flood of the Trout....does that make sense??
Anyone running a baby trout? Got any beam shots? Too much for a road light?
Is that right John Walker? i think we figured my Troutie DO was drawing 2.6A or something, so my battery is a 5.2Ah.
That'll be much nicer runtimes with the new LL.
Swift - From post No. 1:
"The Specs for the techy folks of the Lumen Liberator
6 XPG R4 leds if driven at 1000ma will push out 345 lumens each
6 carclo 10 mm square optics wide / medium / narrow / eliptical to mix and match to make a nice beam.
1 Maxflex driver to take the 14.8 volts from the battery and magic it up to 18 volts ish for the leds .
waterproof switch .
cable and connector to suit battery pack minimum requirement is a 14.8 volt li ion pack
the bar mount is in development at the moment and can only get better.
it will also be helmet mountable using some yet to be sourced velcro straps
No idea on the real price just yet but it wont be £50 but it will be the cheapest 2000 lumen light out there ( and it can be turned down so no whingeing about too much light).
If it turns out there are some folks interested in having one of these lights then mail me and we can go from there."
go on then.who,s going to be no 1000.
troutie. it,s got to be you surly.
Cheers for the light Chris, can't believe the size and quality. Tomorrow will be out in deepest Brechfa, though there's a full moon out there!
1000... lumens are not enough
Like it duggie

Well if there's a demo doing the rounds can I get my name down? More than willing to take it over a weekend !(cheeky I know, but worth a try and we might get to 2000 !)

Not really a demo I think it has been kidnapped and I am just waiting by the phone for the ransome demand
Just received my light, it's bloody fantastic. Can't wait to get out on those moors tonight.
Already blinded several colleagues.
Pleaseure doing business with you Chris.
got card in postbox cant collect baby for another 2 hours the suspense is killing me cheers Chris will report back l;ater
Just been out to the bike shed to try it out again. My god I'd forgotten about the green glow - how cool is that.
Chris, dont know if you got my email regarding a connector for the proto i had as the lead was popping out, can you let me know if you have one spare and price, really pleased with the light
It survived the worst Brechfa could throw at it (it was very wet out there tonight), couldn't fault it. Used the DX light up top and helped on the tight switchbacks. It made the tabletops a lot safer. at two hours back at the car was when the red light came on.
Mine turned up today cheers Trout.
Very nice, the logo and label looks very professional, and its a big improvement over the Proto (which was very nice in its own right).
The female port rather than a flying lead is good. I'm guessing the light is a battery low warning type thing that i didn't know it had (a nice surprise), and the green glow is a lovely gimmick, which if the mount ever does break will be handy. (must be worth a couple of lumens on the final count too
)
All in all, fantastic achievement for one man in his spare time (not forgetting the contribution of others). Easily a match quality and value wise for any of the big guns (to be fair, if it last a couple of years problem free, it will blow them out of the water)
Woot! Just got mine!
So much smaller and neater than the pictures do justice.
Well done, and many thanks!
