On his website he mentions these options, can you (or the man himself) advise me as to what they mean.

Is it to do with brightness or beam pattern?

LED options – 3 XPGs & 3 XPs or 6 XPGs, select when ordering

    will try
a while ago Cree released natural white xpe LEDs so I did an experiment with mixed LEDs to see if the trail colors were seen better. see the beamshot thread for the pics .
as a result of a near 50/50 split in folks preferring one over the other I offered the choice .

the 6 xpgs are whiter and so brighter
it seems most of the preorders have gone for the straight 6 XPgs

Keep me aside a purple one, once I’m near a pc instead of the phone I think I’m going to splash some cash 🙂

DOes the endurance option come with a bottle type battery and is that better for waterproofness?

Flicking through WMB in the newsagents yesterday, they raise some concerns vis a vis Troute lights – would trout care to comment/convince me to part with my ‘hard earned’?

    Toxic .
first up they did not review a Liberator .

what bits I read from the scan sent to me

slightly wonky conectors Check , used to use Lumycycle style ones which are not great .
now using in the new Lib some IP67 rated locking connectors .so that issue sorted .

battery strap too short and flimsy
so had some new 50 mm wide straps made which are long enough to wrap the battery and top tube or stem so 100 % better
    Issue sorted .

will be happy to answer any other queries raised from the Wmtb reviews

they dont fill me with confidence seeing as they could not even get the photos with the right lights

I tried a mixed LED LL and would go for pure XPGs if absolute brightness is paramount. However on a long ride, I reckon the mixture would be less tiresome on the eyes – it’s a “gentler” but still very very bright light – more than the 7UP which was reviewed. Can’t see what WMBs issue was with the battery pack – Trouties was fine on my bike.

Ive been lucky enough to try a full-on 6XPG Liberator version and a 7UP side by side (thank you Troutie) and I can confirm that the Liberator somehow had the edge over the 7UP.

Even with one LED less the Liberator has an ability to ‘FOCUS light’ down and forward and to the sides of the trail just where you needed it. This in no way belittles the 7UP which threw a huge flood just about everywhere, another very bright and well built light as you’d expect.

If you’re in the market for a cracking light you’ll not be disappointed 🙂

Hats off to Troutie and Luminous, as they are in a league of their own.
