I am planning a trip to Wales over the Easter weekend am looking for tips.
Where would be a good base for access to the best trail centres? I am looking for a bike friendly B&B or pub, do you have any recommendations? Which are the trail centres to visit? Thanks for your help.

    Well where are you starting?

As far as South Wales goes, Afan, Cwmcarn and Brechfa are all good, and all accessible not far off the M4. Hard to say one place to stay as they are all spread out.

You could do worse than stay somewhere like Llanwrtyd though and grab a map – any driving you do to get to trail centres will mean you are driving past loads of great riding that’s easy to follow on a map.

I will be traveling to Wales from Nottingham so mid/North Wales would be preferable but to be honest, I am flexible. I have not done any riding in Wales before so am open to suggestions.

Either Swansea or Cardiff would be good. Then depending on exactly where you are you’d be about 30 mins to an hour away from the various trail centers. All the trail centers are good. There’s lots of good riding in the beacons if you wanted to stay in Brecon:

Also this site is good for trip planning:

Or you could try somewhere in Cymmer, which is about 5 mins away from Afan and Glyncorrwg and then it’s an hour or so up to Brechfa or down to Cwmcarn.

I’d suggest North/Mid Wales rather than Swansea or Cardiff. Who’d want to stay in a city when there’s wonderful countryside to stay in…?
