My mate's Trek 8900 needs a bit of work after some 12-ish years of no maintenance. The rear disc brake is fitted onto the chainstay but Hayes don't seem to be making them anymore. As it's in a desperate state, what are the options? Send it to CRC for an overhaul or will anything else fit?

buy a new bike, or a decent 2nd hand one

He's emotionally attached to it, not a chance.

Hope do a C2 caliper which will fit a Hayes mount on a Trek.

I doubt they still make them but it might be worth contacting them to see if they still have any in stock

Would an overhaul not be a better option then? CRC seem to have all the Hayes spares you can think of.
