    Hello,

Slightly sad to hear that the Trans-lakes race which I’m sure many will have heard of was cancelled… not that I could afford to enter! But I was hoping they’d reveal the route as I’d love to bivy it.

I’ve gone over OS maps with blind ideas of Ullswater over Helvellyn and via Borrowdale, buttermere, Pillar etc, but wandering if anyone with more knowledge of the area had a likely theory of the route planned to follow?

I think the route was something along the lines of Askham – high street – troutbeck – kentmere – Ambleside – langdale – esk hause – sty head – borrowdale – langstrath – greenup – Grasmere – patterdale – ullswater – Askham.

IMO, the days were too long which would explain the low take up and subsequent cancelling. I’m all for big days out, but 80km per day for 3 days in the Lakes is too much to be enjoyable and turns it into something different from what you’d expect given the ‘trans’ name (if you know what I mean)
