Having spent the last couple of days at FoD and rather liking it I’m thinking about riding there with the pooch. She’s totally happy here in Wales, Cwmrhaedr and Brechfa are the local trails.

FoD seems full of wild boar that I’m pretty certain could possibly provide a lot of distractions. Does anyone have any experiences to share please?

To be honest if you are concerned about the dog chasing wild boar then i would say don’t chance it. A boar could easily kill a dog

Had one pass across the trail in front of me only 10ft away!

Likewise, so wondered what other rider’s dog’s reactions were.

Boar are fine unless provoked. There has been a few instances where dogs have acted aggressively towards the boars and they will defend themselves. This is more likely when they have little ones around. If your close by, your fair game too.

Otherwise if left unmolested they run away or ignore you with little interest. They are just great when you see them.

If you want to lessen the chance of an encounter avoid late afternoon or evening in the forest.
