Been looking at power assisted bike (Electric) for ages but just can’t bring myself to bid on one. I don’t drive and pulling a trailer full of wood or apples up a hill is both hard and time consuming. I am also and this is what i really need some info on want to replace both my trailers. One a single wheel one is on its legs (overloading)the other is excellent in what it can carry but it requires a fair bit of time to set a bike up to fit it. Being lazy I am missing out on loads of foraging. I need a trailer I Can fit in minutes. This will encourage me to jump on bike and go get that nice bit of wood or apples/pears (cider/perry). Anyone used a similar one? There are are more on Ebay. Also I doubt I can get extra attachments to fit to my other bikes. As stated I am idle when it comes to bike stuff. Now this one has some clear advantage

Anyone used one? I like the fact it can be used as handcart. Also can it be easily detached? Stopping on a hill is difficult as you have to tie the brakes up and with my other trailers find somewhere to lean the bike. If this is easily detached I could just let it tip back and it will go nowhere. Again anyone have any knowledge of this type. I don’t want to ask sellers as they will tell you anything to sell and have probably never used them anyway. Any help appreciated JB

I’d avoid attaching anything that’s going to be carrying heavy loads to your seat post – it can make handling a bit tricky if you’re heading downhill as the weight/force from the trailer is so high off the ground

Good point I live in a valley so no way of avoiding hills. Although it is a basic requirement to cycle very slowly down hill with any decent load as the bike over takes you if you brake hard!! Unlikely to be off here as prices lock reasonable on Ebay particularly as there is one near me which will probably go for £25. The same as the 1st Ebay one I described. Thanks to both of you. JB

certainly more risk of a jack knife under braking but also, from experience with a trailer bike it can make the bike’s handling a little ‘odd’ when you have a weight on the seatpost pushing it forward.

From preference I’d go for something mounted lower down.

Have you considered an electric cargo bike:

probably not much more than a combined e-bike and trailer if you get the right one?

Your first ebay link shows a trailer which looks like it attaches to the chain stay. I can only assume that the there is a risk that the fitting mechanism will foul the rotor or possibly the calliper/mount on chain stay mounted calipers.

wwaswas seen loads of bike like that on a short trip to Belgium although not power assisted. Good but I don’t think I have the place store it. Thanks again

A small quick release drawbar fitting stays permanently fitted to the rear via the axle nut.
It fits on my specialised globe with discs, though I am using a bolt axle for theft deterrent reasons. Some one in the reviews says it works with discs and qr.
Trailer Would need a bit of modification to work as a cargo trailer because the roof canopy is fixed and entrance is only via the front fold up flap. It will rest on the draw bar or at 45 degrees backwards when un hooked. Pivot point in the draw bar allows you to lay the bike down whilst the trailer stays upright.

Despite the Good advice I received. Looking at main bike I have decided that the risk to My disc brakes was non existent as my Rohloff gear changer would protect it! As I definitely don’t want that damaged I went for the trailer attached to the Seat post. Will give my opinion when I try it. Thanks again

What load of crap! Some of the tubes were crimped by putting another tube inside and crimping. Worse still the part that fitted the seat post was to small seat post is 27.2mm, so no chance of using. The plastic box is superb quality. All money returned once I had sent photos. So not a total disaster. Seller said best to keep, we will give you your back and you can buy another.
