What do you do to prevent these pesky fellas getting their fangs into you?

My runs take me through areas of long grass (around livestock as well) which is prime tick territory.

In all seriousness, leg hair removal makes a huge difference – shave or run the clippers over legs.

Long socks for prevention. Inspection and a tick-twister for the solution.

pull em out afterwards with tweezers has been my only way in the past. Bloody weird horrid disease ridden things.

Don’t use tweezers it squeezes their insides into you (and that’s how you get infections) a tick twister is the best solution.

To be honest I hope to avoid getting them completely. Does any insect spray work?

A forestry worker told me they spray tcp antiseptic on their boots and around the lower edge of their trousers to prevent ticks, imagine if you splashed some on your legs it would prevent them.

Theres a bunch of sprays and oils on amazon which claim to repel ticks. Dont know which is best but im seriously considering trying some as keep finding the things crawling on me during or after a run, its really anoying this time of year, much prefer winter trail running.
maybe try some calf guards as well?

Almost any insect repellant will do the trick.

Here’s one I prepared earlier (last week) 🙂

Just pulled 4 of the buggers off me from a walking holiday in north devon.. permethrin spray on your socks might work deet sprays less so according to the www.
permethrin is found in pubic lice cream. On the subject of shaven legs my wife has no ticks .
