I have to attend a course in Sunderland on Wednesday but will drive up from the south on tuesday and may sneak a quick loop or two of a trail centre (for ease of navigation) close to the A1(M) / A1.
Any recommendations?

Hamsterley can't be that far and worth a ride, weather permitting. Cafe was crap when i went there tho'

Sunderland is on the A19 so you'll go past the A170 at Thirsk
Dalby is 45 mins up the A170

my sympathy on having to visit sunderland.
If your travelling up the day before Dalby is fine, but its a fair way from Sunderland so don't leave late in the morning (depends where your coming from 'spose), went past that way on wednesday and was still a bit of snow around.
Hamsterley is good but will prob be under a fair bit of water in places, and is closer to sunderlandPosted 2 years ago # -
I'm sure I read something on here the other day about Dalby being closed for a couple of weeks (although I may have been imagining it!) but as said Hamsterly isn't a million miles away either, although out of the two I prefer Dalby.

Sherwood Pines is about two miles off the A1.

Hamsterley's about 40 miles from Scumderland, and at the moment will be under a thick blanket of snow, (soon to be followed by a couple of feet of claggy mud).
To be honest, I really wouldn't bother for now, as it won't be very pleasant, (although it'll be a million times nicer than being in Sunderland).
To be honest, I wouldn't bother taking a nice bike to Sunderland, as it won't be yours by the next day...Posted 2 years ago # -
why not spend the time taking in the cultural delights that Sunderland offers? The National Glass centre, the Stadium of Light- home of the ONLY premier league team north of Manc, the beautiful beaches, and ....er...
loadsa other stuffPosted 2 years ago # -
Isn't that the only premier team in the North?
