As per title…… about to put a tow bar on the back of the car to help transport bikes and prevent the winter entering the car…next year will be a time to buy a 29er – will the tow bar mounted bike racks which attach to the wheels expand enough for larger wheelbase bikes?

I have an Altera rear rack and 29ers fit fine. There is enough room to move them left and right a bit to fit several bikes on the rack without bars and saddles hitting each other.

I have a Thule 9503 and have been using it for my 29er – usually alongside alongside a couple of 26ers – for around 3 years now.

    No problem whatsoever.

I don’t think my 29er (Unit) is any longer than my 26″ FS (Pitch).

Personally I wouldn’t put a bike on the back of a car through winter, all that salt and road shite being washed over the bikes.

    I have a Buzz 3 bike rack, takes 3 29ers fine. It’s brilliant.

A 29er is not really any bigger or longer in wheelbase than a road bike.
