It’s taking forever but am pretty damn close to finishing the build on my Genesis Tour de Fer. Just need to decide where I want the bars and add some racks.

Just add racks & panniers for adventure by simondbarnes, on Flickr

Plan was originally for a cheap build using old / 2nd hand parts but decided that the frame was too nice for that so ended up with quite an expensive build!

Genesis Tour de Fer frame & forks
XT 9spd front & rear mechs, chainset (22/32/44), cassette (11/32), rear hub
Dura Ace bar end shifters
TRP Hylex brakes
Mavic XM719 rims
SP dynamo hub
Sapim race spokes
Continental touring plus 37c tyres
Pro LT Bars, stem, post
SKS Chromoplastic guards
Spesh Toupe saddle
PC991 chain
M520 pedals
Arundel Stainless cages
Lizard Skins DSP 3.2 tape

It’s only had a little pootle up the road so far but it felt good 🙂

All ready for a week of camping on the west coast of Scotland.
I wasn’t aware that I was running 50/34 x 11/25 until after I got back……no wonder it was hard work 🙂

My Tripster ATR touring last summer – it’s also my winter bike, commuter bike, Sunday best bike and gravel bike 😉

I’ve got a bar bag ready for it to give some extra capacity for this summer’s short tour to Snowdonia and back. Can’t wait!

A well-used Jones and a project bike that’s toured from home to the Germany-Austria border with this kit on but usually just does weekenders. I want a bike with panniers on next, if only because I’d either be going for a long time, or in real comfort.. both sound good.

My Roberts that I rode across the States, down the Pacific coast and the Cascades on. I bought the frame second hand, it had barely been ridden. I must have toured about 12000 miles on it now.

Hmm, something must be up. Every time I press the IMG key I get teleported back to my home screen.

Roberts above Manzanita on the Pacific coast.

El Mariachi in Idaho. It’s still coated in dust from that trip. It kind of keeps that trip alive for me.

Fargo heading for Mt Keen on a C2C

Vaya frame bought here on the classifieds, built up with old nine speed stuff. Soon to christened on a tour of the northwest highlands with CynicAl, can’t wait!
