Was it the Bridge over the River Kwai episode or has it had more episodes since? (Just reading something on the BBC site that suggested there were complaints from last Sunday’s episode).

Sooner rather than later. For good hopefully.
Maybe we might get a motoring programme instead of the inane drivel that is Top Gear.
    The format needs to change.
Maybe we could see the Stig testing 4×4’s by driving over that idiot Clarkson.

River Kwai was the Christmas special. 16th march was the last one.

A format that has long outlived its novelty.
At least it was interesting when it still had Tiffany Dell and the 2nd hand car spiv.

Speaking of TV series ending, did anybody watch “W1A”? Just four programmes and then that abrupt finish?

I thought it had just got interesting with a lot of promising plot strands developing, and then – nothing….

    Weird.

    Watchinh Beeb2 last night.

Clarkson reviewed the first Focus- PANNED it- it then went onto the the best seller.

Clarkson reviewed the Toyota Corolla- PANNED it. It then went onto be the worldwide best seller.

He then bigged up a car that sold a handful. 😆

What? He loved the first Focus –

The Toyota Corolla is a hateful thing to drive though like most Toyotas. They just seem to suck the fun out of driving.

Err come on, no matter how many sold, the escort (MK3 I’m assuming) was POS

popularity doesn’t eqate to good. By that logic Bing Crosby: white christmas is the best song ever.

did they ever do the laptimes for the mclaren p1?

Clarkson (and the whole format) increasingly looks a bit Alf Garnett , out of date and unwanted.

They should have moved on, done some new technology pieces instead of the the usual max power petrolhead guff.

And remember there is still meant to be another show with the Porsche v’s McLaren contest.

About the ‘staged’ traffic jam? Weirdly that’s an article from a few years ago, but I noticed that it had suddenly appeared in the top shared/read list.

They talked about doing the P1/Porsche comparison “in the summer” IIRC, so I suspect it’ll be a series launched in the autumn. Should be awesome.

Ahh is it one of those – bloody BBC site with it’s old stories popping up again. So long as I haven’t missed any – I still like it for a bit of light-hearted fun.

Years ago, since when they’ve just recycled the same show, year, after year, after year……

Wonky bridge with a slope on it.

Was that the line? That’s actually quite clever, I was trying to recall how they’d phrased it.

    From the standard

“This is a proud moment, but theres a slope on it” when they complete the bridge.

Slope is Vietnam-era slang for “any asian resembeling one of the ‘reds'” according to Urban Dictionary.

I’m not a fan of the programme but that line made me smile. Is it really racist? Didn’t seem derogatory – wasn’t like he was calling them “”lazy, feckless [and] flatulent”. (that was mexicans).

I like how they’re denying any racist inference and suggesting they were just talking about the structural integrity of the bridge!

I’m sure I remember Clarkson (or certainly someone on TG, would have been the “old” version) being very positive about the Mk V* Escort…

*Not sure if “Mk” numbers are used for Escorts past IV since they facelifted the last one once every three weeks or so..
