No problem with toe overlap on the mtb but on the road bike….

I’ve had a 54cm frame bike and a 56cm frame bike and when trying to track stand or just wobbling at the lights, I still have about 2-3cm worth of toe overlap with the front wheel.

54 was a Giant and the 56 is a Trek. Fit is spot on, its just this niggly problem. I’ve trashed two front mudguards because of it.

Is any one renowned for longer frames or is this a common feature on road bikes?

Would sizing up to a 58 or 60 improve it noticeably? (fitting a short stem)

Fit some slicks on a MTB and have some fun on your commute etc.

it is normal ..toe overlap that is, not wobbling.

Sizing up to 60cm likely won’t make a difference. It’s not a problem you will ever encounter when riding along and steering, just be conscious of it when you are stationary. Took me a while (after losing the tail of my crud race guard =P )

It was a crud race guard that exploded into smithereens when I caught it with my foot.

I know its not a problem when steering and riding normally.

What about a Roadrat – aren’t they meant to have longer frames?

basically all road bikes can be prone to this, depends on crank length and how big your feet are.
Because of the preferred geometry for the forks/headangle the front end is never very long.

just keep an eye on it when doing trackstands and the like.
