Well done! Colleague of mine is doing very well on the women’s cage fighting scene in London. The constant training to fight at that level would be waaay too much for me.

I only started properly in March!

Bit of luck, lots of determination. Everybody in that event was way higher grade than us, we had black belts in the final and we’re only 7th Kyu!

I did 4 events today, did second kata in the forms, it was atrocious, worst I’ve done since I started! Placed 5th though

Novice points sparring, fought for bronze in the final but didn’t go my way. Was gutted

Open grade continuous points sparring, got to the third round against a blue, Brown, then got eliminated by a really nasty 2nd Dan who bust my nose good and proper. Really enjoyed this event though with the higher grades, was great been able to get stuck in

I have no idea what you just said, but I completely agree with you.

I love the sparring, currently training for 2nd dan…it’s a step up from what I’m used to!

Great day, there was quite a lot of blood too, it’s supposed to be light contact only

    All good fun

Kickboxing. Nothing so mystical or authentic, but we mix in Thai, wing chun, shotokan…

There were a lot of kickboxers there today, they really like it rough but weren’t that good at getting the points. Would be a lot more even if it was full contact though I think

That sounds right! We don’t train for points contests, but enjoy a good fight!

Thanks guys, was hoping for some jewelry today but knew it was a long shot at best. Really really didn’t expect a gold!

I’m now nursing a seriously tender bruise on my inside right thigh, think I might have a fracture in my left foot and picking out crusty blood bogeys, you probably could!

    Well done TFM

You must have put in some proper effort to get so far since March.

How many training sessions do you have to put in a week out of interest?

    Congrats!

I was at a service station on the M25 about an hour ago and there was thousands of people (kids to adults) wearing team karate/martial arts kit. Was it the same event? Did think something big must have been going on.

Probably a different event, it’s was in Dewsbury, 210 competitors at ours.

I train 2-3 times a week, between 3-6 hours depending on what we’re doing.

A class is min 90 mins, our sensei is fantastic

Stoner – even with the dodgy leg, he can still pull out The Crane

(Martial Artists must really hate constant references to that)

    Edit: Photos look great!
