Do you really need a thru axle on a rigid fork?

what axle to crown and fork offset do you need, or more simply, what frame are running? I produce a couple of ti forks, one is a regular unicrown with tapered steerer and 15mm thru-axle, the other is a little more fancy and still at prototype stage. The unicrown is £300 including postage and maxle. drop me a line – andrewj.stevenson@hotmail.co.uk – if you’d like some photos and more info. Thanks, Andy@StoogeCycles

Torus forks are very good and stiff as hell with 36mm tubing. even running with a QR lateral twist is not an issue. Now use black sheep unicrown forks with a 15mm axle, great forks, be honest when you tell james your weight as he varies the thickness of the tubes to the rider weight and how they ride, so if you are biffer on a light fork it will flex like buggery rather than be a lovely supple ride or conversely it will be overly stiff.

If you’re using discs, I’d say so.

I had a QR come out under heavy braking on a rigid fork, it was not ideal.
