  • Tips for cleaning mud off underside of car?!

    Hi

After a very muddy Goodwood campsite my car came back absolutely caked in mud.. I’ve got a lot of it off with jet wash under the arches and sills etc. but a quick inspection with a torch shows there is plenty more under there!

Save jacking the car up and getting stuck in with a brush and a bucket of soapy water does any one have any top tips on technique, products, etc.?

Could be keeping the car long term and want to try my best to get the mud off/out any places it could cause damage/headaches in the future.

    Cheers

more likely to cause damage/headaches waving a pressure wash lance about underneath a car than leaving it a bit muddy, I’d imagine 🙂

Aye.. good point! Maybe I’ll just leave it, let nature take it’s course when the roads are wet and hope it all just falls off.

Drive through a ford a few times?

Surely it’ll just start to fall off on the first drive you do on a really wet day.

That’s what I thought but we’ve had plenty rain in the North East and it did nowt.. I think because it sat on the campsite for 4 days after in quite warm weather it just baked itself onto everything!

A tub of Sudocrem and an emergency flag to wave.

Oh, hang on a minute……CAR? Not CAT?

    My mistake……

    As you were.

They don’t even get the exposed top bits properly clean! They don’t go anywhere near the underside.

Go to Bristol, they have free underside-of-car washers.

They are usually empty, I don’t think the marketing was very good.

If you have a jet wash most have an under car lance attachment available, but TBH, I’m liking the “through a ford a few times” option 🙂

Carwashes do sometimes have full under-car spray thingies. It costs extra.

Drive over a peleton. Sweaty Lycra acts like a scrubbing brush.

Drive it into a canal. They’re not that deep.

Sudocrem – well played PP, well played!

Some quality suggestions up there ^^^ but there appears to be not one ford in Tyne & Wear.. Garden sprinkler it is then! Some more ammo for the neighbours thinking I’m completley batshit mental.
