Went for a walk yesterday around Borrowdale and Bretherdale near Tebay on a couple of pretty good bridleways which, for some reason, I’ve never ridden on. Quite easy to make a good morning’s ride I’d have thought, but I’ve never seen a mention of them with regard to mountainbiking. Anyone ridden them?

Yes, you can do a short loop using them. Not done the BW between Low Borrowdale and Roundthwaite, the BW over Breasthigh Road is mostly a push from the Bretherdale side. The BW that leads out of Bretherdale up towards Shap summit is boggy and ill defined.

One of the Lakes MTB guidebooks includes them in a loop that also does Bowderdale.

Have a peak at issue 59. There was a Tebay based riding article in that : http://singletrackworld.com/2010/07/singletrack-issue-59/

The descent from above Borrowdale to Roundthwaite looked good fun. It wouldn’t be too bad a push over Breasthigh rd from Brethersdale (compared to some).
