  • Those after pub auction mishaps…

A man living in a two-bedroom flat in Bristol has had to move house after winning a tank in an online auction.

Jeff Woolmer put a bid on the seven tonne ex-Canadian army tank on a specialist auction site.

He said: “I’d forgotten all about it and then at work I had a call saying ‘Hello sir you’ve just bought a tank’.”

I met a guy last year who had bought a few tanks over the years – he was showing me his ‘anti-tank tank’, fits in a standard sized parking bay and capable of about 60mph – and he was saying that the big problem a lot of buyers have is the tanks aren’t always terribly well prepped for sale. The guns might not have been decommissioned and live shells can be rolling about lose inside them, so you the win the auction then suddenly discover you’re responsible for a whole lot of weaponry and ammo that you’re not licensed to own.

I bought a really nice and ornate stove top coffee pot once, it turned up ok and looked just as it did in the pics, except it was two inches tall.. 🙁

I think my best was a nitro powered Rc car from the states. It was a Traxxas Revo and it went like the clappers. It was also the start of a rather slippery slope.

Similarly a friend though he’d bought a very competively priced Charles Ames chair – in fact he’d bought a very expensive piece of dolls house furniture.

I am disappointed there wont be a tank locally in case Brighton tries to invade 🙁

LoL – my sister-in-law excitedly emailed my brother a few years back, telling him she’d found a table and chairs for their flat on ebay with a buy-it-now price of £10… you can guess the rest.

    or one of these for Wales trips;

Rally prepped Skoda Estelle. Roll cage, twin Webbers, plumbed in fire extinguisher system and everything. (un)fortunately I wasn’t to pissed to remember what I’d done and cancelled the bid after a full and frank discussion with my sensible half.

Those Wolf landrovers are fast as…..for a Land Rover . One over took me once on the A55 with a trailer. I was doing just over ‘ahem’ 70 mph…

The guy with the tank knew what he was doing its just a cover story to get it past the wife

Once bought an 8ft long wall mounted fish tank.. Probably not the best use of £600.

Luckily managed to buy a signed banksy print from a POW release sale a few days later which more than paid for it..

I once went to the pub for an afternoon pint and came back with a free hovercraft. I never got it going and I gave it away when we moved, but for a while I HAD A HOVERCRAFT!

Handpresso coffee set…. Turned out to be really useful
2 Quad Bikes…. Thankfully was outbid for both in the last seconds
Cotic Soul Frame… didn’t check size, it looked like a large. Wasn’t
Snowmobile… Amazingly managed to sell it on for a small profit before I collected it. Phew!
North Face 8 berth Tent…. That one was a real bargain. The shipping cost from Tennessee wasn’t

I don’t do drunken visits to eBay any more. The grief from my better half is definitely not worth it

ahhhh I wonder if that was the tank that was parked in a field up the road for a couple of weeks? If so it must be wet inside as they left the hatch open.

edit: going on the article nope. Obviously someone south of bristol owns a tank too.
