Updating my old Trance with wider bars (and finally moving to 31.8 diameter) to see what the fuss is about wide bars, etc. El guapo bars at £9.99 and 760mm seemed too good to miss.

Now need a new stem. So will I simply replace my 90mm Thomson Elite with same length and rise X4 or will I also go for relative cheapness and get an On One Ultralight?

User experiences of both…..I obviously have the Thomson and TBH would like to keep my post and stem matching….

Actually, anyone got a vgc 90mm x4 they may sell…..

I’ve got an on-one ultralight on my bike. Hasn’t killed me in the 14 months it’s been on there. TBH if you’re unsure of the length/rise you want go for a cheap one and once you know what size works for you spunk the cash on a prettier one if you want.

I think the accepted wisdom is to go shorter if you are going wider

Had 680mm bars with 100mm, then went to 711mm bars and 80mm (later 60mm as I now live somewhere steep so am doing ‘heavier’ stuff).

Recently put 740mm on and moved down to 50mm.

And the On One CNC’s are plenty stiff, and far lighter than the Thompson’s.

I’m selling a Thomson in 90mm… Good condition, cheap.

The correct numbers are 740 and 50.

CRC were doing some of the longer Easton Haven stems cheap, possibly in silver only though. Lighter and stiffer IMO.
