Trying to set up my wife’s bike. She has a Thomson dropper post which is great but the post when out at its fullest is too high for her. I can’t lower the actual post anymore. Besides getting the height right with the lever is there anyway of stopping it going to maximum height?

    Any advice please

    I don’t think so.

    Interested if anyone disagrees though….

bit duff aesthetically but a bit of string tied to the bit of seat post at the bottom that doesn’t move and the saddle rails to limit upward travel.

    Smaller frame.

I had to get a bigger frame as I had the opposite problem.

Don’t do this. Honestly. Take your chances with sawing a couple of inches off the end. How wrong can it go?

Let a little air into the system so it doesn’t reach full extension?

Is that a joke or will it work??

I think it’ll work. Air compresses more easily than fluid, it’s the fluid/pressure that keeps the seat post extended, so adding air to (or rather removing fluid from) it means it’ll compress more easily (or won’t have enough pressure to fully extend in the first place) and will drop a little.

I’m assuming the Thomson post works in the same way as the Reverb.

How much do you need to drop it?
Is there a lower profile saddle that would do the trick?

Just wait for a few weeks of use. Both mine and a riding bud have now got posts which don’t fully extend unless you pull up on the saddle. His by a few mm but mine is more like 10mm…
