Their cigar malt is outstanding, i’ve tried many others but there is something special about this bottling that is hard to find elsewhere – the distillery has had a very troubling time over the past 30 years and it’s utterly shameful the way these scottish national treasures are bought and sold on the open market to the highest bidder, i dunno what/who owns it now but i hope they have some kind of continuity in their future to look forward to.
I dunno if it’s generally available but i recently got given a bottle of Bruichladdich Sherry Classic and it is sumptious in drinking, very big mouthful of spice and fruit flavours with only the barest hint of the fabled islay peat on the aftertaste.
I managed to get my dad a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan reserve at auction which is apt as he first met my mother whilst in his fishing boat off the coast of Jura in 1971, she got into difficulty sailing/messing about across the Corryvreckan area back in the early 70’s, he (sort of) rescued/escorted her back into Crinan and the rest is history so to speak (here i iam) so i hope they’ll enjoy it for a xmas treat.
Hope i’ll enjoy it as well 😀
