My knee is getting slightly better too RB. The swelling has gone down quite a bit, and I’m so far resisting the urge to pick the multide of crispy scabs.

    Don’t forget to wear knee-pads kids. M’kay?

Oh… crisps are getting better too. Especially in pubs that generation serve the afore-mentioned better beer

Motorbikes. Getting faster and safer. 150-200bhp now the norm, but with ABS, traction control, wheelie control, electronic suspension, not forgetting modern tyres which are stupidly grippy and confidence inspiring.

Don’t confuse ease of speed with safety. But yeah, some of the new motorbikes coming through are brilliant. The downside of all the power is that it makes it all the more likely that they will end up limited to 100 BHP at some point as politicians always like to find a small minority to legislate against, in the name of protecting people from themselves.

Pubs, beer, crisps, snacks in general.

Personally going to say cycling. Had a poor year on and off the bike so far, but an afternoon watching the kids enjoying Hicks Lodge on Saturday and a pleasant 30 mile road ride this morning is making me think my mojo is almost within reach.

    My work-life balance.

Now work only 12 miles from home instead of 35 miles. Looking to ride in one day this week. 🙂

Not tomorrow though APF – off up to Selhurst to see Speroni’s testimonial in the evening.

    Kitchen paper. Ridiculously so.

Funnily enough I said this to my wife the other day, she thought I was going mad.

I also think kitchen paper is one of life’s biggest extravagances ( I need to get out more…clearly )

Other than that, as a cultural pessimist, I really can’t think of a single thing that has improved. The internet is nice to have as a communications tool but it has destroyed far more wealth than it has creative, e.g. Amazon has put lots of traditional retailers out of business, but has never made a profit of its own.

Just spent the weekend with an old friend of my dads and a recurring topic of conversation was adventures in knackered old cars, the jury-rigged repairs we’d needed to make and so on. We then realised we both drive cars now that are older than the old cars we used to drive (and with 3 or 4 times the milage on them too) and that they’re perfectly reliable.

So – cars (and vans) and a source of reliable transport on the up. Cars as sources of amusing anecdotes on the way down though.

Cycling is probably getting better where I live. A lot of people out and about, a few new bits of infrastructure. My neighbour, who on the surface of it would appear to be the type to run you down in a Range Rover, has just got a Dutch shopping bike and rides it about. Also passed the best dressed cycle commuter I’ve ever seen today. Nice smart ladies suit and high heels!

    ??

Not turning a profit doesn’t mean a company isn’t creating wealth.

My back. Out for the first all-day full on effort ride on Sunday in the SH since the “accident” in 2013.

    Back to life.

Mind you, almost complete loss of technical skills. Parklife was a disgrace.

    That’ll get better too, though… 😀
