Dennis Jones designed and built this bike in his shed during the war before he was 20. He used to ride it to work and being late one day was giving it full beans. It was so loud it sparked an air ride alert.
Reading about him in Classic Bike. He gets a medal from me.
It’s a 2 stroke ,supercharged flat 4 for those that care.

Can’t imagine it stopped too quickly with those drum brakes, got better ones on my Specialized.

it must be a mechanical supercharger?

Zippy I get that but where on the induction stroke could you supercharge it, I am no mechanical genius though and that is the living proof of it.

Well accordinging to wikipedia, and that five minutes reading has been a bit of an eye opener for me, uniflow engines can be mechanically supercharged.

He made the brakes himself too. 😀

Err, that’s the very definition of a supercharger is it not? If its not mechanically driven by a belt or shaft, the only other way is pressure driven off the exhaust gasses…. And then it’s a TURBOcharger 🙂

Anyhow, that is truly a wondrous creation of the highest order. 🙂
