I’ve stopped filling the moat with Evian, my swans are furious.

You want to watch it upsetting swans. If they get too fed up, they’ll experiment with their sexuality, toy with extremest islamic philosophies, alsorts. Then you’re really in trouble

They can break your arm, you know?

    I was already living a post-apocalypse lifestyle.

Plus I have been hoarding tinned goods and (old style) Deore XT thumbshifters.

I’ve dropped 5mph of my motorway speed to work and started buying my beer from Aldi. So in the grand scheme of things, no, not really.

I was forced to wring the necks of three of my servants this morning – simply couldn’t afford the dog food we feed them on any more. Tragic but necessary.

I drive a lot slower to work now. I drive to work a lot less too, more cycling. Win win I think you’ll find.

I have to admit that I’ve been flaunting my immense wealth. I’ve taken to ordering pints of unleaded in my local Wine bar. Far more expensive than a mere chateauneuf du pape.

And the ‘belching while smoking incident’ I had last week has stopped me nipping out for a fag. At the request of all homeowners in the area.

I’ve had to let the wife go, the cost of keeping her has gone up year on year but her performance & enthusiasm has – if anything – declined

You just can’t afford to keep people like that these days out of some sort of loyalty, I’m going to use contractors from here on in

Moved nearer to work and car sharing with a colleague week on week off my petrol costs have gone down from £200 a month to £100 plus no parking costs as he has a space behind work, that saves another £26 a week.

Oh yeah and birthdays and xmas baths are down to just xmas….. its what Jesus would have wanted besides my perfumes quite strong….. 😯

I now charge admission fees for friends, family etc who visit me at home.

    A difficult but necessary measure.

I’ve been on a ‘zero hours’ contract for the past two years and have to reapply for my position on an annual basis, whilst my income has remained fairly static I’ve long since forgotten what job security is actually like!

On the plus side, I’ve really managed to get it together in terms of saving money. The knowledge that each pay cheque could be my last has turned me into an avid ISA topper-upper.

    -sold my car
    -cycling to work
    -less bottles of red wine
    -less fun activities in general
    -less fags
-packed lunch (instead of expensive on-the-go junk)

…actually this recession will make me healthy if i’m not careful..

Well I my hyper miling driving style has come on a bit. Tend to leave for work early of get clearer roads too. Mind you only drive the car because of work relcoation to stay in a job. I miss the time spent snoozing/reading/watching movies on the train. That and the looney London Brompton sprint from the station to the office!

Sharing a lift with the missus, or cycling to work helps.

Wife and I are down to using one car at a time now, so I have to drop her at work and collect her. The only downside to this is that the mileage is actually more, but since her car is more economical, it sort of works out. Oh, and her broken leg means she can’t drive, otherwise she’d be dropping me off and collecting me and I’d be cycling home to walk the dogs at lunchtime.

Other than that, fewer luxuries around the house and more general feelings of unease too. I still think that something bad is round the corner…

I was told I could help save the planet by not being in my car as much. So, I’m driving everywhere as fast as I can in order to get to my destination earlier and thus stop the car sooner.

For me these tough times mean I’ve been contemplating selling off my hoard of runiously rare retro framesets, & of course I ride lots whilst “Socially Notworking” on the employment search-side etc.

I’ve saved money on expensive ipods by simply thinking of a tune and humming it. If I want to switch tracks, I simply think of another song I like and hum that instead
