Repair-ability? who here has actually broken a frame while touring?

Haha just (pre)ordered one.....just got to get some 15mm carbon niner forks and a king tapered headset now.
Anyone want a Racing Green 19.5 slot drop out one with on-one carbon forks and headset? (no cable stops and well ridden)Posted 6 months ago # -
Any ideas when youll have any info re: geo on the website? or are we just supposed to guess
Also, swapouts, but the pic shows the caliper on the seatstay? is this just the proto or are these swapouts not the same as the other swapouts?
Ta.

I use carbon forks for touring. Am I going to die?
Posted 6 months ago # -
Rorschach - interested, email me.
Posted 6 months ago # -
druidh: yes. might not be due to the forks.
Posted 6 months ago # -
STATO: I dunno. I know both swapout frames I've got have seat stay disk mounts.
Kingtut: nay bother.Posted 6 months ago # -
Are you guys going to be doing the scandal as a built bike too?

looks a bit more like old prototype which was an amazing ride, so this new effort should be top banana. Any scandium or should it be called a sandal?
Posted 6 months ago # -
I'm sure they will do. I don't know the details.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Any intention of doing an ebb version if anything at any point?

You can sort of see why Brant ran away the first time really can't you
.
If you like it buy it,if it is'nt EXACTLY how YOU'D like it tough shizzle.
Can I have discount now Mr R??Posted 6 months ago # -
As an owner of one of the original Scand-al frames may I ask how the bent seat tube adds to the design?
I'm guessing it gives more tyre clearance or a shorter wheelbase, just how much though & does the cable to the front mech still limit clearance?Cheers.
Posted 6 months ago # -
To answer my own question I have now noted that the new design has downtube mounted cables & a bottom pull front mech, so I guess it's a shorter wheelbase thing.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Same geometry essentially.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Including wheelbase Brant?
If so then what is the point of the bent seat tube?Cheers.

Yes, of course you're going to die.
Unless you're the first real Scottish vampire, of course.

Is the seat tube angle the same too? 6'6" here and run the seat pretty high, I worry a bit about being far further over the back, and the wheel further forward?
Looks very nice though, glad you've done a raw one
Shame the tapered reducer headsets are all £50 instead of the £20 ones the old frame could run, still.

its aluminium alloy, but scandium alloy is mostly aluminium anyway.

Can't help but feel you've missed the point there somewhat.
The new carbon frames are made out of coal apparently, coal is mostly carbon anyway.

Technicaly you could............
Coal -> SynGas -> Hydrocarbons -> Ethane -> Ethylene -> PolyEthylene -> Carbon fibre

"technically"
Phew, close one.

Ok I was being flippant but that's not really the same. I was (badly) gettIng at the fact that there are more important aspects of the design than <1% of Scandium in an aluminium frame.Anyway, i rode the Scandal over the weekend. It's fun.

Who said there wasn't? It was a fair enough question, I can't see the link between these two statements to be honest.
People still cling on to those old 853 Inbreds and scandium Scandals
Interesting to see Niner dropping scandium this year, it does make the Air 9 even more bonkers overpriced.
