  • The most flattering way to refer to a female friend of similar age via Text?

If you were saying in discussion something like, your a very outgoing …..

    Is it Woman, Girl, Lady?

Note this isn’t a chat up, I’m just wondering which would be received in black and white as “flattering” rather than “insulting”?

Surely it depends on age and, possibly, your relationship with her?

How old are you? I’d go for ‘woman’, but if you’re both very young then that might be weird. Or ‘character’. More neutral. ‘Individual’? Or just go with the catch-all solution of ‘dude’.

    Under 45=girl
    Over 45=lady
But it really depends on how well you know her, and to an extent, what type of friend she is,
Example: i went to school with a girl, we have been friends for 40 years, and I wouldn’t even flinch if she asked me how my love life was going, but other 99% of friends id be mortified if they said that.
    Only you can decide.

I think its the “very outgoing” bit that’s your problem. Could be read as negative ie “you are loud and inappropriate”

What are you really trying to say?

    A nice bit of grip.

‘Hen’ is the Swedish gender neutral pronoun used when the gender is not known or is not desirable to say. Ironically to us like chick or bird . Go with that ?

To whom? I don’t know if you’re 14 or 85, I imagine the answer would differ slightly across that range.

I predict this thread will either be 6 pages or closed by the mods. Possibly both 🙂

Are you aiming to get out of the ‘friend zone’?

I recently had to state on a form my relationship to the women I’ve lived with for 20 years, best I could come up with was “Lady-friend”.
    Not sure if that helps.
