I’ve just spent a couple of days completely stripping and re-commisioning my old 1994 Zaskar LE for my dad to use. Amazing how easy it was to work on, everything is 5mm hex bolts rather than the weeny things they use today.
Its come up really well considering, and so here it is in all its glory. And yes, that is a 140mm I-Beam stem.
Rear mech is shot, very baggy and the jockey wheels nearly worn smooth, but otherwise its rideable. I’ve just taken it round the block and it feels rather strange to say the least – very stretched and rather harsh. I can’t believe I did a few Polaris on it back in the day. When it has the new mech I will take it into the Peak and see if it (and I) survive.
You’ll live, I raced my 97 for 12 hours a few times a couple of years back, admittedly with slightly more modern kit on it that that. 140mm stem is horrible, put a 90mm on it. 😐
Loved my zaskar…. snapped the frame a Lee Quarry.
Gave the frame to somebody on here who was going to use it along with another GT frame to build a canopy over his front door.
