Smiled at him in an Asian restaurant just off Ladypool Road in Brum. Did the same at a Black Keys concert in Wolverhampton.

Being a local I was once almost introduced to him by friend’s parents. Well, I saw this long-haired bloke with them in the pub, with his back to me. As they (friend’s parents) saw me approach they said ‘oh – this is —-‘ …

I saw him turning, realised it was Percy singer of my mostest favouritest band of all time (at the time) ever – Gods, Legends, etc…

… and I scarpered. Weird! He still signed a Zep book for me tho, again via friends. I *was* Napoleon Dynamite, socially awkward and given to running when it felt a better option. Did it to a girl one Xmas eve also. She went to the ladies room, it was getting late, and shame on me, I ran. Left my pint on the table too.

If you join Stourbridge tennis club you have a good chance of seeing him regularly.

My brother was at the bar at a small gig in London. Met his girlfriend who had managed to get the drinks in. She commented about the aging hippy nearby who had tried to skip the queue in front of her and nodded towards Robert Plant nearby. So she has spoken to him though she had no idea he was one of brother’s heros when she pointed out the queue was behind her.

Knowing her I would take the queue jumping claim with a pinch of salt as she is a bit on the pushy side herself.

Ooh two claims to fame on the same 70s British rock band thread; I also went to school with Glenn Tipton’s (guitarist Judas Priest) daughter.

I saw him years ago in the countryside, he was out walking his dog. Me n my mate thought it might be fun to scare him a little so when he passed by we rustled the hedgerow on the other side. He got quite alarmed & ran off back to his house. We pissed ourselves laughing.

I went to school with his son. He used to pick him up in a battered old rover (i think a 820) covered with hand painted gold swirls. Most people’s comments were along the lines of he could afford something better with all his money.

He came into my local ,the Farmers arms ,here on the Isle of Man.There was only a handful of locals in there at the time and i kept staring like some teenage groupie thinking “Na,it cant be”.He was with a mate and nobody bothered him,Half way through his pint he went up to the cobweb covered piano in the corner, lifted the lid, knocked out some tune, popped the lid back down, finished his pint and said goodbye to us..Cool guy is Bob.

Havn’t met him but sat near him during a sunny afternoon at Cropredy festival in the 90’s. He was with jimmy, and he asked if anyone had any rizlas. Numerous packets of papers, swan vestas boxes and lumps of hash rained down on them. He laughed and handed them back. jimmy didnt say much.

This is obviously a lie about him being alarmed- clearly, Percy would just have thought it was a spring-clean for the May Queen and carried on about his business.

My missus taught Noddy Holders son to drive. Said Noddy was a real nice guy. My mates older brother is next door neighbors with the drummer from T-Rex. Not come across any 70’s musicians myself though… Sigh…..maybe some day 😥

    I know someone who has…
He regularly frequents a certain record shop my friend works in.(and is a gentleman)
A few years ago he was in, talking to a younger member of staff about tunes & t’ing .
Young staffer asks “Bob”” what’s he up to tonight?”, “my band has a gig in Greenwich ” is the reply…
“Nice one ,what’s your band called ,I’ll look out for them…”
    Ha.

My mate (also a bit of a star) has a Mum who loaned Mr Plant the money to leave the midlands and go to London and subsequently create Zep.
I’ve never met anyone from Zep OR my mates Mum.

He patted me on the head and laughed at me when I was seven.
I’d gone down the Queens Head pub in Wolverley with my Mom, then I stormed off in a huff. She probably got me the wrong crisps, or I was just being a t wat about something.

OK, so when Mr Plant used to spend a lot of time in the Monmouth recording studios he would regularly come out to the Valley to drink in my local. He liked the area so much he choose it as the backdrop for the video for one of his lesser known (cause it was rubbish 🙂 ) solo hits. He needed a wedding scene in the video so all the locals were press ganged into staging a wedding. Yours truly can be seen (along with my mum, dad and various neighbours) from about 1.33 onwards. Enjoy. It was the 80’s after all 🙂

Oh, and he was back in my local last year with family and more dogs

Guy Garvey was reminiscing on 6 Music last week about meeting Led Zep when he was on tour in the States. He bumped into them at a restaurant that specialised in serving up unusual animals. Jimmy Page was tucking into alligator steak, but Garvey couldn’t identify Plant’s meal, and asked what he was eating.
“That’s a whole otter, love” came the reply.

Bumped into him in the lanes between Kinver & Shatterford a few years back, he was indulging in a spot of highway maintenance on a pot hole.
