Too much time on your hands?

It reminds me of the time I popped to see my parents & my dad was painting his vice.

At least you won’t have to suffer the embarrassment of dirty grips , I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to hang my head in shame due to mucky grips 🙄

Wasn’t there some sort of commercial product like that on an STW fresh goods Friday thing? I’d rather have DrPs personally.

it wont be long before someone comes along and mentions the fact that you need to turn your bike upside down to fix it.. 🙄

maxsatnav – Member I’m here, repairing your bike is really uncool and smacks of rank amaturism. Very poor form indeed.

is that a META? do you have a rear mud guard to protect the rear shock?

stop making these bike props, we need to see more pies!

You shouldn’t have published a photo on here. If I were you I’d get it into production asap, before somebody sees it and copycats the idea.

Though I’m not sure why you’d want to put your bike upside down. Doesn’t stuff fall off of it?

I spot a hole in the tarmac..

Put another couple of hinges in there and it’ll be ideal for putting in yer pack ready for any emergency trailside repairs…..

Trust you be building a stand / rest for the saddle too, nothing worse than a scuffed saddle…. after dirty grips of course. 😕

Jimster – I swear this was photo’d as you typed!!
You can now buy the whole pack – bar rest and “sea scape” pillow saddle protector…. £45

I note sir has his bicycle upside down. Now, collective forum, what do we think of this?

I don’t take it with me! It’s just for a bit of “home side” faffing!
I’ve got a few stands, but if I ever feel the need to turn the bike over at home (wheel trueing etc)

So is that for the shed or do you put it in your camelbak and take it on a ride?

    Damn, this is really great!
I was often pissed by having the bike constantly falling when upside down while I was working on it in my flat (I don’t have a bike stand obviously).

Seriously, this is cool and useful. Maybe I would have made the wood piece wider to prevent it from falling on the edge when the bike is on it but it’s definitly a nice “tool”.

my dad was painting his vice.

I’ve never heard it called that before.

@DrP – the stand is very cool but shouldn’t be standing your bike on that path, it could subside and swallow up your bike at any time.

You could make some small inverted V ones to put in your camelbak on a ride 😉

Well if he bought that Hydration pack off classifieds earlier it’s big enough to carry ‘Jordans tit’ in it so ..aye,unscathed saddles all round.

I wondered who the hell would buy that one in Fresh Goods Friday the other week… I suppose someone who wouldn’t buy one would be someone who had enough spare time to make what is essentially a stupid product for themselves 😉

Oh, and you’re not meant to have Reverbs upside down (apparently).

Instead of all those stickers, couldn’t you just get some tartan paint when you got the half hole drill? 🙂

I made one of those, too! Exactly like that, only nowhere near as neat. I was ‘inspired’ by the FGF version.

Even if you don’t like turning your bike over routinely, there are still some things you need to do on a bike that necessitate having it upside down (changing a BB springs to mind), and some bar-mounted controls can get damaged (E.g. my Reverb lever). So it’s useful to have lying around, although I still use the workstand for 90% of meching.
