    Hello!

    I am bladdered 🙂

Sadly due to the internet I have been looking at bike websites instead of going to bed with this months Readers Wives
(joke in case of potential female lurkers who dig on pissed men with cross curiosity)

So my young friends which would be your crosser of choice
I have no opinions of my own as I have never ridden one but Ive fancied it for ages especially when drunk
And on a serious point some take full guards and are unfashionable to commute

    The choices so far include:

Some excellent typing there for a drunkard.

You can't go far wrong with a Planet-X Uncle John. Buy one.

I really do like the looks of that BMC if I didn't have my current bike i'd be tempted.

Im strangely drawn to BMC bikes too!
If got a Focus from wiggle-worth checking out too
Genesis (above) looks nice, might need a smaller 'big' ring if your going to race-but that goes for most of the cx bikes

    Scott – I don't thinks so, its a Scott.

Specialized – aren't they supposed to be heavy, plus it's a Specialized.

Genesis – looks OK but is Alu and the croix is also heavy with the disks and that.

Uncle John – just looks too weird.

Focus – too 'own brand', and Herman the German.

BMC – Never heard of them.

Kaffenback – Heavy but robust and tourable.

Would / will be the Kaff for me, because it's more of a road bike you can take off-road. Also liking the new colour? Looks a bit yellower than usual. Plus reckon you get better kit £/£ which will knock off a couple of Lbs anyway.

I thought that the Kaffenback couldn't take proper cross tyres, most ofthe rest are much of a muchness, just depends upon whether the brand matters to you.
I have a bmc cross bike which is pretty good, I've done road riding, commuting, ridden all over the Surrey Hills and raced cross on it. I also took it out to the Alps last month instead of risking one of my nice bikes and it coped just fine with riding a couple of Cols a day. I have replaced all the shimano with proper gears though.

Giant do a good bike based on a sound frame.

The budget Ridley Crosswind? that has M/G eyes.
