Those just pre-aerodynamics Lotus cars were always good too;

although you can understand why they went for down force;

That is how F1 cars with aero should look. In fact all the 90s cars above look 100% better than anything from the last few years.

Always thought the Dino 156/Sharknose was an elegant thing too.

I’d certainly put a vote in for the FW14B but maybe top it with the later (but basically same shape) FW16 as it has nicer livery IMO

I’d have said that they’re too fat looking to appeal. The early-mid 90s cars struck the balance between the cars getting nice and clean/thin looking but before all the horrible aero winglets and high noses took hold.

Like the retro paint jobs, the 7up 191 would be interesting although The B&H one looks pretty good. Gold Leaf Lotus is my favorite though.

Yeah, the Benetton B188 and Jordan 191 are what F1 cars should (IMHO) look like. Clean lines, decent aero, massive rear tyres.
I do love this Arrows though as a purely aerodynamic idea pushed to the max…

Nothing quite like seeing (and hearing) the old stuff getting raced, if you’ve never been to Goodwood Revival (or similar historic meeting), do it!
