The red arrows flew over us last weekend; the main group super low and the syncro twins just off the back and so low I could hardly see them for the tree at the end of the garden. Made me feel about 10 again!

Saw them while I was riding in the wilds of Suffolk, just west of the A12 north of Woodbridge. Impressive stuff.

Every flypast of Buck Palace has them pass over our house in Chelmsford. If you draw a dead straight line from the Palace, along The Mall and extend it out, goes smack over our house!

That Airbus tanker is called the ‘Voyager’ in RAF service. It’s a version of the A330 civilian airliner.

The “big uns” are as said before. The A330 Voyager and the C17 Globemaster. I work as a loading specialist on both of these aircraft at Brize Norton and I coincidentally have just been posted from scampton 2 months ago where I was working with the red arrows! There was a vc10 and tristar scheduled to fly too.

Missed the flypast myself but no c130 so a bit of a let down!

We saw the Vulcan flying around Deal yesterday – absolutely amazing stuff.

I had to explain to another guest at the garden party we were at that it is the only fling Vulcan left in the world…

    Yes a mover.
Yes we have an unfortunate nickname.
And yes people only hear about things that go wrong.

People hear about the 100 bags a year we send to the wrong place, or sometimes get damaged, but not about the 300,000 odd people whose flight went right and had no problems and got to Afghan with no worries and all the equipment, mail, weapons, ammo that we get out there to re supply the front line bases. And yes sometimes aircraft get a delay and the cry of “f****** movers” is always the first but I would rather delay an aircraft an hour or so and get people onboad ( who are normally officers running late saying “dont you know who I am? I can turn up 30 min before departure” Dick) and get the aircraft away safely. And the one nobody hears about is when the techie, who should have the aircraft ready 4 hours before so it can be loaded, don’t have it tech ready till 40 min before and then blame the movers, again dicks.

    But hay wide shoulders.

Ah so a mover trying to make his Job sound special !! lol !

    Lol,

Just one of those jobs that needs to be done.

To be fair there are a lot of morons in the trade and people who just can’t be arsed but all trades are like that I suppose.

I enjoy it and I can do something different every day.

Are pilots called gods chosen few because they once expected to see him soon?

He’s not a pilot… The only people who talk that way are Gunners, Scuffers and TG1s. Based on the fact that Renton has been known to use three-syllable words, i’m saying TG1. 😉

Gods chosen few = Raf Armourers.

As Trenchard himself said “without armament, there is no Air Force.”

Cheesy, those are terrific photos, you were lucky enough to get blue skies so your exposures were spot on. Lovely stuff.
