Seen a Fox coil DHX4 on CRC for 150 quid (2008 model) and wanted to replace the stock Basic Van R on my lapierre.

I have heard that TFTuned say that the basic Van R is the best shock to be custom tuned, how much better is it than the DHX? or am I better off having the DHX and a spare shock?

The only thing the DHX offers over the Van is more adjustment of lots of knobs in order to allow it to work on a wider variety of different bikes. Once you have the shock tuned for you and your bike then these pretty much all become redundant. I would definitely go with PUSH Tuning your Van at TF rather than the DHX. You'll end up with a better shock that is set up especially for you and your bike. And will have a load of new bits inside it anyway.

Get the van R pushed by TF.

    I have a tf'd van r, fit and forget. It's really good.

I sent my DHX shock for service to TF but it was beyond repair
I asked if they could provide a new DHX push tuned and was told that the VanR push tuned was as good and cheaper so I went for it and I have to say it feels so much better than my old DHX shock
