The number of people arrested for terrorism-related offences has increased by more than 60%, according to new government figures.

Some 228 suspects were arrested in England, Wales and Scotland in the 12 months to the end of June, compared to 140 in the previous year.

So the number of terrorists has increased by 60% in the last year? Or has policing got so good that they’re picking up 60% more terrorists? Unlikely.

Or – possibly – are the anti-terrorism laws now so wide-ranging that it’s possible to nab people that the State doesn’t like and lock them up indefinitely under un-provable charges?

It’s just arrests, so probably just knee jerk panic related incidents because a bloke with a beard is vaping in the posh part of town.

you’d only know that if you compared arrests to convictions. The press is very good at reporting arrests, less good at reporting when these arrests lead to nothing.

The press print whatever they’re told to print, on a totally unrelated point look at the crap spouted regarding drug seizures etc. There was one recently regarding a cannabis resin seizure on the A74 reported as being worth £300,000, the actual amount seized was 15kg, perhaps worth £20,000 if you’re lucky and find a mug who likes soapbar (poor quality resin – not cannabis) to buy it.

They have to justify the amount spent on policing (this goes for terrorism policing as well as drug policing) so they artificially inflate the importance of their work, lying twunts basically.

2 seperate cases, it was 95 kilos of cannabis resin.

How many of these were photographers in London arrested for photographing landmarks?

The definition of ‘Terrorist activity’ is so wide, anyone can be arrested under these laws.
