  • Terralogic forks or CTD Evolution?

So I’ve decided to attempt the SDW 100 this year, which means a new bike. I fancy doing it on a 29er hardtail rather than my 26 inch Five. Also I want a new bike 😉

I think I’ve narrowed it down to a Grand Canyon SLX, but can’t decide between the 8.9 and the 7.9.

The 8.9 has some nicer bits (XT, DT swiss wheels etc) which is nice but the choice is mostly about the fork. I’ve heard bad things about the CTD evolution in that the damping was awful, but mostly the 2013 model. Are they OK now?

I’d be happy to spend the extra £400 for the bump in spec / better fork but I’m unsure about the terralogic technology. I’ve read mixed stuff about it being weird to ride (always sort of locked out) and losing small bump sensitivity, but I’ve also read some really glowing reviews (mostly racer types though)

Has anyone here ridden one? Is it worth the £400 over the 7.9?
