Me and Mrs. S really fancy a mixed grill for tomorrow night’s tea. I haven’t had one for years but was thinking of an assemblage of:

Fried egg, gammon steak, rump steak, lamb cutlet, tomatoes, mushrooms.

Is there anything else that must be on the plate? And also, any suggestions for a carb accompaniment as we don’t want chips.

    Fanks.

Chips are the correct accompaniment by law.

I could see some birdseye potatoe waffles going well with that. they’re quite versitile.

these are the chips you want. 13% beef. wonderful.

You can’t have a mixed grill without it, it’s the law [probably]

I believe Birds eye potato waffles are ‘Waffily Versatile’.

That said a jacket spud and some beans will complement the meal perfectly.

Weather spoons do a wicked mixed grill for about £ 8 pounds and sometimes includes a drink.

That’s as maybe, but that would involve sitting in the vicinity of people who smell of wee, and possibly getting glassed 😉

I think you need to include all the main food animals on the plate, so:
    Small steak
    Cumberland sausage
    Lamb cutlet/chop
    Some kind of chargrilled chicke

    Then add more pork:
    Black pudding
    Pork chop
    Gammon

Then add chips, a grilled mushroom and some garden peas.

    Onion rings.

    Beans or tinned spaghetti.

    Hot dog sausages.

For ‘not chips,’ you could do mini roast potatoes. Cut spuds into 2cm cubes, boil for a few minutes, drain and shake to fluff the edges, then bang in the oven.

Agreed it might be straying into S&T, but typically that’s steak and prawns, so… I’m just trying to get as much meat on the plate as possible…
In for a penny and all that.

Clearly it only qualifies as the true king of mixed grills if the Lamb element is a Barnsley Chop, with kidneys still attached!

Spaghetti and baked beans are pretty interchangeable, no?

Just a few random ideas rather than ‘the same old stuff we have every other time.’ My grill-ups generally involve me looking in the freezer like a kid at the penny sweet counter. “I’ll have one of those, one of those, two of them… ”

No. No they are not. Who the hell has tinned spagetti instead of beans on a fry up. I am sorry but you have overstepped the mark this time Cougar and I have reported you to the Mods for having no culinary taste.
