I’m thinking about buying a Chromebook. One of the reasons is to use some of the various educational sites that we have access through from our eldest’s school. These sites all use Flash so don’t work on the iPad – do Chromebooks support Flash? We have a laptop but it’s very clunky and on its last legs – I only use it when absolutely necessary. I was thinking of something quite cheap (~£200), ideally with a touchscreen. Must be reasonably light and have a decent battery life – any recommendations? (or general comments from current users)
    Thanks

What are the sites? I use my acer chromebook for mymaths and.purple mash as that’s what my eldest kid’s school uses. The chromebook is ace, just get one. My iPad doesn’t get used because of it.

Try re-installing laptop first. Or using the system restore to restore it to factory state. It’s free to do, should be first option IMO.

I have an old (1st Generation) Samsung Note 10.1

My son (6) uses his Topmarks (Maths) homework on it, and I downloaded Flashfox onto it, so that it can use the Kids A-Z which is flash based for his reading assignments.

Since it’s an old Samsung, it sometimes crashes when using FlashFox.
I know this isn’t much help, but quite possibly a newer version maybe useful.

If you do go the way of the chromebook, note that you can create a supervised user

You can go for a white list, blacklist or just monitoring approach

I’d prefer an alternative to the laptop – it’s a too big/heavy, the battery doesn’t last, no touch screen etc. Other than syncing iTunes/Googlemusic or (very) occasional Cubase/MS Office it doesn’t get used.
    Will look into that Stoner.

I’ve used that site before, so it does work on the Chromebook 🙂
