Jesus, it was a proper crashfest today wasn’t it?! 😯

Hopefully it’ll calm down a bit now the race is hitting the mountains.

I wonder if he thinks all of the sprint is to his right and he’s moving out of the way just as another 3 come round him

thats what JV said in a slightly more conciliatory interview shown on ITV highlights package, that its ironic Talansky was trying to get out of the way of the sprinters and tangled with them.

That’s what I was thinking – but (according to the Spanish commentators at least) the number of riders having to abandon is basically the same this year as last (or even actually slightly lower).

You can always rely on Statler and Waldorf to either completely miss or completely misintepret moves. Saxo were on the front “to protect Contador”, nothing to do with GC contender TJ Van Gardening being on the ground abandoned by half his team, then?

Well yes, they were almost certainly on the front to protect Contador. They probably didn’t even realise TJ was down, and if they did, so what? TJ hasn’t had much form this year, and isn’t really a threat to Contador.. Commentating is a harder job than some people give it credit, and they were probably right on this one.
